Work/Qalam Academy

Qalam Academy: an online school that feels like a real classroom.

A Birmingham tutoring academy running GCSE and A-level classes over scattered Zoom links. We built one platform for live classes, homework and parent progress, and moved it to AWS so the evening rush never slows it down.

What was in the way.

Qalam ran classes on scattered Zoom links and WhatsApp groups. Parents could not track progress and tutors lost hours on admin.

Their old site sat on shared hosting and went down on exam-season evenings, just when every student logged in at once.

Three moves that changed the numbers.

01

Live classes in one place

Join from the dashboard, see homework in the same screen and watch the recording afterwards.

02

Progress parents can see

Predicted grades, attendance and homework in one view, with a short report every Sunday.

03

Cloud that handles the rush

Hosted on AWS in London. It scales up for the 5 to 8pm peak and back down overnight.

Before and after, in numbers.

Measured by the client, the same way before we started and after launch.
